Well, I am going for a hair transplant and I have a few questions. I know that they take it from the back of the head, but do the folicles at the back of the head grow back. Does the new hair look natural and recover naturally. How much money would it cost to put say 20,000 new strands of hair or 5000 folicles or is that even possible?

I used many products. The topical stuff is OK if he is just starting to thin or have Minor hair loss. But it takes a while to work (if it works at all), and for some people they only grow peach fuzz or at least stall the hair loss for a while.

I used propecia, and it works great, but not all people respond to it. You have to take it for at least 6 months to a year before you will notice if it is working for you. For some people it slows/stops the current hair loss, and for others it actually grows hair. The thing is, once you start, you cannot stop. If you do, you will continue to lose your hair again.

By far the most effective treatment for hair loss has been the micro surgical hair transplantation procedure. it will run you about 8 to 10,000 dollars and he may have to go back more than once for therapy, progress check ups and even another follow up procedure. Even so, they do NOT guarantee the results. Usually a combination of all three methods works well to combat hair loss. My suggestion is to start as early as possible. The longer he waits to regain/retain his hair, the harder it will be for him.

Yes that's true. Plus there is nothing other than a toupee that looks more fake than a transplant job. And, I have heard that transplanted hair is actually more prone to falling out than regular hair.

Advertisements tell you "COMPLETE RESTORATION" but it should be most if it restored. I went to Bosley a while ago to get my friend treated there. He was 90% bald and after the hair transplantation he indeed got most of the hair back (but it doesn't seem like a full hair to me or to my other friends)... You must make a deal with yourself and then go for it. If you believe that SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING then go for it but do not PIN your hopes on it. Good Luck..

Yes and No, They will be able to restore a lot of your hair, but your hair wont look the same as when you were 16. It also depends on how good of a donnor area you have on your head. If you're completely bald, or close to completely bald on top it's going to take more than one hair restoration procedure to fully restore your hair. You'll never be able to have the hair thickness of a 20 year old, but two or three separate procedures and possibly the use of Propecia will get you pretty darn close.

I have heard that prenatal vitamins actually are really good to get your hair to grow. I can not say anything abou your bald spots because I do not know if it is due to a physical trauma( like wearing certain hats, or lying in the bed a certain way) but if your baldness is due to lack of nutrients prenatal vit could be the answer. you may also want to have your hormone levels checked
