Medical informed consent?

is medical informed consent legaly walid if was obtained by the patient even though he had not met or spoken to the surgeon that performed surgery on him?It was obtained by so called hair transplant consultant who is not physician has no medical background. The patient met the doctor first time 10 minutes before surgery when the doctor had so called consultation, one day after consent was signed. The patient was mislead and conned into hair transplant surgery that was scheduled before patient was examined and had a chance to wage the pros and cons of surgery.

Medical informed consent?

Absolutely -- informed consent says that the individual has had the opportunity to ask questions of a medical professional -- a transplant consultant isn't getting a job in a hospital as a transplant consultant unless there's some sort of medical background -- no doctor on the face of the Earth would do that.

A patient isn't conned into surgery -- he/she ALWAYS has the opportunity to say no -- it isn't a . . . come here, sign this, let me chop you up . . . thing.

More importantly -- if there was a day lapse between the time the consent was signed and the time the surgery was performed -- then he had the opportunity to weigh the pros and cons of the surgery . . . and his claim wouldn't stand half a chance.

Medical informed consent?

It is presumptively valid. No one can answer this question without knowing the totality of the circumstances. Chances are, the patient signed a detailed informed consent statement. If the patient believes that he or she has a case, a consultation with a medical malpractice attorney is usually free of charge.

Medical informed consent?

No it hast be in writting and have your signature.

sounds like you gave thatfor your surgan, but not for anyone with out Medical degree.

P welsh

Medical informed consent?

Valid. He signed the consent. Just because he feels he was conned and wasn't treated very nice makes no sense. Who lets anyone operate on them if they still have questions. That guy is just stupid. Get a consultation. But I don't think it was the surgeons fault that the guy was uninformed. Where's the con? All I see is an idiotic man who got bad hair plugs and is pissed because he STILL looks ridiculous.

Medical informed consent?

One would assume it's valid. The amount of information people need and want varies widely, and especially with cosmetic procedures, it's quite normal for people not to want to hear all the rarest potential complications. There's no absolute in the amount of information exchanged. Also, the patient could have weighed the pro's and con's by the simple expedient of saying, "No, wait, I want to think about it some more." Crawfishing on a technicality is not very seemly.
