I entered the military at age 19 with super thick hair. Then of course they shave it all off for bmt. It hasn't been the same since and I am increasingly concerned about it. I've also had a few cysts removed from my scalp and noticed that one of those spots is very thin. any ideas on why this would happen?

Are you still living in the same place as before joining the army? probable not. The water can be a killer for hair wash. I use a filter that is easily installed before the shower head and filters the water. Sunshine, shampoo, what you eat, poisons, STRESS, etc all have effect on your hair

Wearing hats will damage your hair follicles. Quit wearing hats when you don't need to!

Guys still look good when they are losing or have lost their hair. It's only when they try to deny it with constant hats or hair that is too long that they look unattractive. Cut your hair short. I doubt you want to look like George Costanza on Seinfeld. Look how guys like Bruce Willis have done it. You can lose your hair and still look good. Don't worry about it too much. Confidence looks good on anyone.

Your cysts that you mentioned...are they precancerous? You should be putting sunscreen on your noggin!

Sorry to hear about your hair loss. I understand that you'd like stay clear of Rogaine and surgical hair restoration.
